11400 A LARGE OVAL GILTWOOD MIRROR CARVED WITH BULRUSH AND TEXTURED GROTTO DECORATION English. Circa 1820. Measurements: Height: 64″ (162.6 cm) Width: 53″ (134.6 cm).



Research
Of giltwood. The oval frame carved with a system of repeating overlapping bulrush leaves resting on an irregular textured grottoesque ground, backed by a wavy rocaille edge. Possibly originally conceived as a picture frame. Small losses to carving. Very old possibly original gilding. Mirror plate an old replacement.
