Research
Of Cuban mahogany. The old but replaced rectangular veined ‘Occhio di roseo dall Algeria’ marble top above a pierced carved frieze in the form of trefoil double lancet windows, pointed arches, lattice pattern, and scrolled fretwork. The whole raised on four cabriole legs with open double lancet window carving to the knees above a fish scale pattern and terminating in a ball and claw foot.

The design of the present table broadly belongs within the Gothick taste, or Gothic Revival, an eighteenth century reinterpretation of medieval Gothic architecture that began in England circa 1740.
