View from the Garden of the Royal Manufactory of Wallpapers of Mr. Reveillon
In which was made the first experiments of the aerostatic machine invented by MM Etiene & Joseph Montgolfier, brothers.
This machine is 57 feet high and 41 in diameter. The first public experiment had been made at Versailles in the presence of their Majesties and the Royal Family on 19 September 1783 by Mr. Etiene Montgolfier, left unto itself (?) gallery.
The second was made at the Chateau de la Muette 21 November following. The Aerostat was 70 feet tall and 46 In diameter, and a gallery in which rose Mr. Arlandes and Mr. Pilâtre de Roxier to direct the fire.
This is the first aerial voyage that was made.
