Research:
Patinated and gilt bronze; Cronus holding a gilt bronze scythe and an hour glass; on Breccia marble socle. Possibly, but not certainly, once forming surmount of important clock.

The present sculpture represents Cronus, or Saturn, the ancient god of agriculture who, in his Greek manifestation, features in the myth of creation and came to be associated with Time.
The piece formerly belonged to the collection of antiquarian and antiques dealer Churchill Brazelton (1920–1980).
