Research:
Of mahogany with boxwood string inlay and gilt-brass mounts. Of pointed arched form, the cabinet has a fall front set with original drop handle with quatrefoil back plates. The fall opens to reveal six horizontal circular compartments for the laying of wine bottles. With dummied rear, the whole raised on short tapered legs terminating in original square brass-toed casters.
The present cellarette is not only unique in being conceived as a Gothic ogival arch, but is also apparently the only known example of the Georgian era to facilitate the storage of bottles laterally.
