Of pale green painted wood and parcel gilt, gilt iron, and mirror plate. Each tapering and faceted shaft in three sections. Each with three framed rectangular mirror plates. Paired gilt iron candle arms are mounted above each lambrequin carved division. The base of each with carved acanthine ornament ending in a knop. Candle arms replaced on one pair. Some old replacements to mirror glass. One final replaced. Old touching up to paint and gilding.
These remarkable sconces of massive scale and unusual faceted design set with mirror glass are identical to a pair that formed part of the decoration of a palace in Majorca until the early 1990s. Majorcan furniture often deviates from pieces made on the Spanish mainland being frequently more inventive in design.
