11478 A GILTWOOD AND COLORED GLASS LANTERN IN THE NEO-GOTHIC TASTE Italian, Possibly Venice. First Half of the Nineteenth Century. Measurements: Overall Height: 52 3/4″ (134 cm) Height of Lantern: 30″ (76.2 cm) Width: 25″ (63.5 cm) Depth: 13″ (33 cm).



Research
Of giltwood and colored glass. The pierced domed top with quatrefoil and lambrequin decoration above conforming hexagonal central section with colored glass behind arched panels separated by carved twisted columns, the underside composed of carved inverted foliate decoration terminating in a carved tapering knop final. The whole suspended by two carved foliate S-curved clasps issuing from a sheaf of palms and terminating in flowerheads.
