Of mahogany. Each with well figured rectangular top above a slim ogee frieze supported by four turned and reeded front legs terminating in a roundel base, the four rear legs of plain rectangular form. The whole raised on an indented plain plinth base. Shallow detachable backboards removed but present.

The austere form of these tables, with finely figured mahogany emphasizing their clean lines, is very much in the manner of the great Georgian architect, Sir John Soane (1753-1837), who believed that “furniture itself should partake of the decorative character of the building.”¹
