11679 AN EXCEPTIONALLY ELEGANT SILVER AND GILTWOOD NEOCLASSICAL SIDE TABLE OF UNUSUAL CANTED FORM North European. Last Quarter of the Eighteenth Century. Measurements: Height: 32 3/4″ (83.1 cm); Width at back: 53 1/8″ (134.9 cm); Width at front: 43″ (109 cm); Depth: 28 1/2″ (72.3 cm).



Research
Of carved pine with silver and gilt decoration. The possibly original gray veined marble top rests on a conforming base with canted sides and projecting corners. The shaped frieze with sharply carved repeating acanthus leaf design is interrupted by a projecting tablet above each leg set with a patera. Each fluted slender leg is united by a pearl carved three part incurved stretcher centered by a foliate knop. From the frieze are suspended three foliate swags. The whole raised on four slender turned feet.
